Selective Collection INTRODUCTION In Brazil one of the great challenges for the confrontation of the problem of the solid residues is in the field of the management. It is necessary that the definition of one politics for the sector, articulates the three levels of government (Federal, State and Municipal), considering ambient, technological, social and economic questions. The commitment with the management of the residues must involve public sectors, private initiative and organized segments of the civil society. On the other hand the great demand for industrialized products makes with that the number of dismissable packings grows and. This growth reflects in the increase of the population. The extreme use of packings in the commercialization of products, has been another characteristic in the effective industrial way. Multiple packings are used for protection of the products, distribution, and promotion of sales, having conferred praticidade and attractiveness, but at the same time increasing the production of solid residues (Gradvohl, 2001). In the past, the garbage production for the population did not cause the impact on the environment that can today be seen, a time that the majority of the produced residues age of organic e, therefore, more easy nature of being degraded. Moreover, remaining portions of food, fruits and vegetables were used in the feeding of domestic animals, what also contribua to diminish the volume of the solid residues (Cavalcante, 2002). In the agitation of day-by-day lived by the majority of the people who live in the great cities, it has a great valuation of the practical and dismissable products, what it still more increases the volume of the produced garbage. Lasting products and you reused, considered of good quality until some time behind, had lost land for the dismissable ones (Gradvohl, 2001).
